Points to consider for the Easter Vigil readings

Points to consider when preparing a brief homily for the Mass of Easter Vigil.

Joy in the Resurrection of Christ and of us.

Christ took the suffering, which his enemies sinfully inflicted upon him, and made it the means by which they can be forgiven and healed.

Resurrection from the dead. Death and hope in our own resurrection. A proper awareness of death.

Christ is the light of the world. We are to be lights of the world.

Joseph, Jesus’ foster father and Mary’s husband, was a just man. The virtue of justice. Living the virtues of respect and responsibility.

Living water. Free acceptance of the Gospel. Conforming our hearts to God’s will.

Grace. Our response. The promise of eternal life.

God is merciful to sinners. Concupiscence and self-mastery. Lenten activities.

Everyone love everyone, like God. The universal call to holiness. Loving where we have withheld love.

Choose what is right and live. A good conscience. Formation of conscience.

Light of the world. The right to religious freedom and the social duty of Catholics. Private and public goodness.
