We offer to Mary hyperdulia, that is, the highest honor that it is right to show to one of God’s creatures. God preserved Mary from original sin and its effects. He filled her full of grace. Christ Our Savior took his human nature from her. She was good, as her Son testified when he said “Blessed is the one who hears the Word of God and keeps it.” She was wise, as she showed when she told the servants at Cana to “Do whatever he tells you.” And her Son gave her to us as Mother, when he said to us, through St. John, “Behold your mother.”
Mary is a balm to us in the insanity of the world we live in today. She is also one of the great helps God provides for us to walk well in the ruins and building up of we know not what.
